Wow! Amazing plant Mary. Is the feather boa a part of what the plant always does or is this an anomaly? It sure is beautiful and you can see Thelma in her hat as well…Great! Thanks for sharing 🙂 VK
Hey VK,
The boa is made up of the seeds of the thistle that usually blow away one by one – but for some reason they all clumped together on this particular one. I have never seen them be like that before and I was just being silly. 🙂
It actually is part of the flower. It is a clump of seeds that got rained on, and stuck together. You can’t see it from the photo, but the back of the flower had started to go to seed.
Don’t tell anyone. It may embarrass her. She doesn’t like people to know she is aging. 🙂
Gee, how I LOVE Ms. Thelma’s boa……seriously Rare! Guess I wouldn’t be able to get one, eh? Wondering if she flings it over her shoulder as she parades her elegant dog around the neighborhood? Any chance she’d lend it out for a fancy dress occasion?
Hahaha! Yes, she does fling it over her shoulder as she parades her elegant dog around the neighborhood! I’m sure she would let you borrow it! Although, she can be a bit sharp.
Love,
Mary
It is amazing, JoAnna. Slowing down is the key, I think. I love the blue tips too. That’s what made me want to click. Then in the clicking, it kind of becomes a relationship. Thanks for visiting!
Peace

Thanks badfish! Me too. She is a pretty girl sporting that boa. However the boa has blown away and her hair has now become grey. Ah, aging… Whatcha gonna do?
Thank you, Esme! I can just imagine that you have that same outfit, and I’ll bet you wear it well. Embarrassing for Thelma, but she will just have to get over it.
Love the photo Mary but I must say I do miss your usual wise words to go with the exquisite photos!
Maybe ‘rare’ gives us chance to be rarer or sparer with words – my post was a bit less on the words and more on the photos this time! 🙂 xoxo
Hey Debbie,
I have had such constant computer struggles this summer. It was all I could do to put a picture up. Next one will have more words, perhaps.
I appreciate that you missed that! I loved your last one. So beautiful and serene.
xoxo
Mary
doesnt technology drive you mad? never mind, i’ve got my dose of Mary’s Wisdom and Humour from reading the comments. I loved the opportunity to write less and show more photos with my Rare post…. and Mongolia does that to one – makes one serene. extraordinary place. But i do think ‘rare’ made us all sparse with words – even the inimitable Mr Fish only had a few words to say this time around. But his photo was worthy of a prize, methinks. as is yours. Rare. x0x0
Nice to see your post this AM. Your beautiful capture of a thistle is a good reminder for me not to curse it, they can be beautiful(altho we don’the have magenta ones at Peacerock ha!).Thank you for sharing. Peace & love, Trish
Yeah, they can really take over. We keep them out of the hay field, which involves A Lot of digging each spring. I love them, though and so do the hummers, bees, butterflies and other bugs.
Thanks for stopping by!
Peace and Love to you!

So delightfully playful, love it! It made me giggle on a dark and rainy night in Estonia, like a ticklish ray of sunshine! Thanxx for sharing your magic!

Thanks Jenny! Yeah, I probably won’t see that again. Just how the rain wetted the seeds, and then dried that way, but they did blow away the next day.

Aging…yeah. Physicists say we invented time, that it doesn’t exist. But tell that to the wrinkles on my face!

I know, right? We just don’t have that one totally figured out yet. I thought our generation might do it, but alas, no cigar.
