What a beautiful picture , Mary. It reminds me of the night we watched the moon rise above the mountain in September when the Blood Moon occurred. What a night of discovery that was. I’m thankful for that night we had discovering together. The milky way was brilliant I certainly was viewing the sky with thankful and new eyes that night. What a thoughtful quote and perfect ending to the challenge. Well Done!

That was a very special night. We had front row seats! It was so perfect where the moon came up, so we could watch the whole eclipse and see the stars when the shadow covered the moon. This melting drop of ice does sort of look like a moon coming up. I am actually underneath it, and the drop is coming down. I knew when I took it that the drop would look like it was going up. Perspective! 🙂

Magical image, Mary. It reminds me of all the special moon rises I’ve seen in my life. I can’t explain why, only tell you that it does. The quote is one of my favorites. Photography is one of those things in life that helped me to see. Not only with new eyes, but to just be aware with the eyes I have. 🙂

Thank you Robin. I am a big fan of your photography. Another person commented that this reminded them of the moon. It is a droplet coming down, but I am underneath, so it looks like it’s going up. I’m sure you figured that out. I love taking pictures. I think it slows me down, gets me more present in the moment..

Hey BF!! How are you? Missed you! I thought of you the other day when I was commenting on someone’s post. I was talking about singing bowls, and of course I mistakenly said bowels. Haha. This reminds me of Thoreau, who I read didn’t travel far from home his whole life. It’s comforting to be reminded there are plenty of treasures right in my neck of the woods I have yet to discover. I still want to see some new landscapes though. 🙂

Yeah, there is a lot of beauty all over the world. I used to have wanderlust, and traveled mostly in the states. I always thought I’d go to a lot of other places, but now I am content to just enjoy my landscape here. I have been to New Zealand, which is incredibly beautiful, and Scotland also beautiful. I’d like to go to Alaska and Costa Rica and Australia. Hawaii is beautiful. Where do you want to go?

Loved all three quotes in this series, Mary, and they’re all my favorite. The middle one seems a very pragmatic resting place between the inviting mystery of the first and third. I think the first quote from Thich Nhat Hanh, like this one, invites us to explore an idea the mind can’t readily compute. How can opening ourselves to harmony, and seeing with fresh eyes, actually do anything…? The mind doesn’t know that trick! Ha! Until it stumbles into the miracle of experiencing it…
The awareness of birds in winter always instills in me the realization that I don’t understand much at all of how things “work”… 🙂 Thank you for the lovely quotes and images…

It’s funny you should say that about exploring an idea the mind can’t readily compute. “How can opening ourselves to harmony and seeing with fresh eyes actually do anything?” Yes, the miracle of experiencing it. That’s funny what you said about the birds in winter. Some stay. Some leave and come back in summer. Some leave in summer and come back in winter. Although, the pine siskins didn’t come this winter for the first time, which makes me wonder if one of the places that they usually stop for a break and eat and build strength for the rest of the journey is gone. Some new subdivision that used to be full of berries…
