Giving Thanks

Today, I am grateful for gratitude. It is my most joyful feeling.

Thankfully, I am grateful for a multitude of reasons. I wrote this a year ago, but I feel the same.

In this moment, I am grateful for this warm cup of Jasmine tea on this very cold and blustery day.

I am grateful for my 70 pound puppy, who jumps into my lap for her morning “lubbins.”

I am grateful for my beautiful friends and family – the deep love, and support we are to one another. I am grateful for how deeply I see my own Soul reflected in the eyes of my dear ones, and how that feels like home.

I am grateful for the delight in the natural world, and for fully enjoying the wonder and beauty of the moment.

I am grateful for inspiration.

I am grateful for the desire to live each day to the fullest.

I am grateful for the awareness of the different ages within me – the playful child, as well as the wise woman elder, and everyone in between.

I am grateful for my belief system, that we are Spiritual Beings having a human experience, that Earth is our school room, that All is One, and that we can tap into Divine Love at any time.

I am grateful for the synchronicity of the Universe, and the serendipity of things.

I am grateful for exploration and adventure,

for mindfulness in the moment,

and for being in a place that
makes that easier to do.

I am grateful for the aspiration to walk a path of balance – of walking through this world without losing inner peace….aspiration being the operative word, mind you.

Helen Keller said, “All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” I am grateful for that.

I am grateful for potential, and for watching my dreams come true.

I am grateful for the Miracle of Everything.

I am grateful for the lullaby of the owl hooting in the darkness.

I am grateful for the life experience that allows me to confront the dark places inside myself, and the ability to illuminate them and forgive myself, which brings me peace, grace and joy.

I am grateful that I can see beauty, and how it stirs my heart.

I am grateful for the moisture that keeps our creek alive.

I am grateful for dandelions blooming still, in spite of the snow.

I am grateful for the Steller’s jay

outside my window.

I am grateful that I can go anywhere in my mind at any time. I can see an iris in the field in winter, or swim around a colorful coral reef.

I am grateful for teachers who are further along the path than I, and for the privilege of guiding people who need a hand. I am so blessed to have had such a wonderful career the last 30 years.

I am grateful for beavers, geese, ducks and frogs; for dolphins, whales, turtles and fish. I am grateful for all the creatures – great and small.

I am grateful for my relationship with Nature.

I am grateful for the peaceful rhythm of our singing stream.

I am grateful for the two red tail hawks dancing in the sky right now.

I am grateful for song.

Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” I am grateful for the freedom of that statement, and the knowing that happiness is my own choice and responsibility.

I am grateful for this little red squirrel stuffing its little cheeks with seed.

I am grateful for all of you.

May unceasing JOY and Gratitude flow into your Heart and Soul.

Happy Thanksgiving American friends, and Happy Gratitude everyone!

  5. How beautiful, Mary!
You write with such eloquence. Your blog posts are amazing. I love all of your photos so aptly selected. I am thankful for you and for your new blog. I am thankful for Suzanne and the nudge and support she offered you that helped you get started. And if I may be so bold as to speak for all of nature, the four-leggeds, the finned ones, the winged ones, the crawling, climbing and burrowing ones, are all grateful for you and your ever abiding love of Nature.

  13. I am grateful that you have posted these inspirational thoughts. I like the Helen Keller quote, “All that we love deeply becomes part of us.” It speaks to me now, as I deal with a family that is scattered in far reaches, and an aging parent. But they are all part of me. And therefore, always with me, no matter how distant they may be. We are all bound together. I needed this today. Thank you so much.

I’m so grateful for all the wonderful people I’ve met since I started blogging. It’s such a great gift to be with the ones who can understand me, who can perceive life as a mirracle and who are helping me to follow the path of growing, changing, finding the Light that is inside of everyone of us.
    Thank you!
